International community sends much-needed troops & aid to failed British state

Shared from Hayibo. Hopefully while the AU troops complete their relief mission they can also identify elements that can help form a new responsible government and carry out some "nation-building" to help rescue this failed state. Reporters have been holding interviews with British citizens who, the reporters say are eager for any armed force to appear. There is no clear evidence yet of whether troubled Britain has become a haven for terrorist forces, but an messages attributed to Al-Qaida in Yemen took responsibility for the events in Hackney.

Africa to send troops, food parcels to UK as riots spread

ETHIOPIA. The African Union today adopted a unilateral resolution to deploy army troops and care packages to England as looting and violence spread from London to other major cities. Spokesperson Charity Khumalo said “We can no longer stand by while these savages tear themselves apart.”

The AU, meeting today in an emergency session to discuss the ongoing rioting in the UK, has declared that they will do “everything in their power to help bring civilisation to England”.

“It’s just so sad, you know?” said Khumalo, speaking from the organisation’s HQ in Addis Ababa. “Sitting here and watching them on TV while their society implodes. We cannot in good conscience remain idle and let it happen.”

The AU has announced a range of initiatives that Africans can get involved with to help alleviate the misery of the English.

“For instance, we have launched an ‘Adopt an English child’ programme,” Khumalo explained, showing journalists brochures featuring the faces of English kids. “If you donate a mere R50 a month, you can see to it that sweet little Johnny from Peckham receives a basic education, a pack of condoms and a pair of pimpin’ Nikes.”

Khumalo also said that the AU would be parachuting in dentists along with army troops as part of a ‘Feel better about yourselves, Brits!’ initiative.

“You can understand why they’re turning on each other,” the spokesperson told journalists. “You look in the mirror and you see teeth untouched by modern dentistry. It’s heartbreaking enough to make anyone put a brick through a Starbucks.”

The organisation also plans to air-drop care packages on major UK cities.

“Vegetables, mainly,” Khumalo confirmed. “We’re sending them vegetables and toothpaste.”

The AU’s flagship event, however, will be a star-studded rock concert to be held in Johannesburg, with all proceeds going towards the establishment of mobile libraries around the UK. Artists ranging from Mafikizolo to Steve Hofmeyr have pledged to perform at the show.

“As a humanitarian, it’s the least I can do,” Hofmeyr said yesterday. “I look at those photos of the adorable little beasts knifing each other in fights over looted X-Boxes and I want to hug them and give them a nice hot cup of Milo.”

Meanwhile, the week’s events have seen terrified South Africans in London and Manchester packing their bags for home.

“This country is going to the dogs, dude,” said Werner du Preez, a gap-year student from Johannesburg. “I’ve been offered a nice little two-bedroom place in Hillbrow where I can feel safe again.”

You should just maybe point out that this is a joke.

    Roberta,

It is the way in which imperialist interventionist politics work. It isn't simply a 'joke' as its pointing out the possibility for a new imperialist nation to control their former colonizers in the same way that their former colonizers have continually controlled and exploited their own domestic politics. IE: If a former colonial state of Britain is to become a exploitative imperialist capitalist power and Britain is to fall into a destitute state and it is being economically exploited by said imperialist force, and if said countries ability to exploit the capital of Britain is threatened-- direct intervention would occur. The holders of imperialist power change over time and this is both jokingly and ironically pointing this out.

The best one I heard was a report on Twitter that Colonel Gaddafi had recognised the teenage rioters as the legitimate government of Britain.

To be honest no amount of spoofing will change the fact that white British people have this historic tendency to believe they are superior to the people of other countries no matter what the evidence to the contrary. Maybe these riots will change this perception but I doubt it.

When African Presidents are found to amass a fortune this is all evidence that Africans can't govern themselves and were better off with the Empire. When Tony Blair is found to have amassed £25 million since leaving office (some from companies doing business in the Iraqi oil industry) nothing is said.

When other countries torture, it's a justification for us to bomb them and kill their peoples. When the Tory government announces that the UK security services can torture as long as it has ministerial approval, nothing is said.

The British went over to North America, Australia, New Zealand and Africa and committed absolute genocide. They then subjugated the oppressed peoples of the world in an imperial set up that blocked economic development, killing millions upon millions with the early death that gross poverty leads to. Yet we are all told about the need to bring up children with 'British values' and bring up another generation of Nazis.

I don't know if it is true, but it <em>is</em> funny (!) and a justified mockery of NATO presumptuous declaration of who is, and isn't, the legitimate government of Libya).

During the Katrina disaster, as people were suffering and dying, as the Bush administration was indifferent and paralyzed, Fidel Castro offered help from the nearby island of Cuba. It was both a serious offer, and obviously a way of fucking with the arrogant U.S. government -- preparing "1,100 doctors and 26 tons of medicine and equipment" to ship to the people suffering in New Orleans. No parody, <a href="/http://liberalforum.org/liberalforum/index.php?/topic/13222-fidel-castro-offers-to-help-katrina-victims/" rel="nofollow">real life</a> -- but also a funny tweaking of the imperialists (and their presumed superiority).

@Joe Ball... Great comment I absolutely see your point. I've always thought of British oppression as very similar to the NAZIs anyway.

  • Maoist in the U.S. have always said,

<blockquote>"If you want to argue that Churchill is better than Hitler, you'd better make that argument in Belgium not in India."

TONYPANDY 1911.....Indeed the whole of South Wales to this day hold CHURCHILL IN LOW REGARD. With Hitler dead the British people threw him out of office in 1945.. they kinda figured that his idea of a "LAND FIT FOR HEROES!"...was poles apart from theirs........(last year , 99years after the RHONDDA RIOTS a Welsh Council objected to a Street named after him) .......LONG MEMORIES IN THE COALFIELDS......

  • Dodge:

In 1926 during the Great Strike in Britain Churchill (then in his 50s and a government minister) spoke about the striking coalminers saying:

<blockquote>"I will drive those rats back into their holes."</blockquote>

I heard about this fully fifty years later, from a West Virginia coal miner who spit out Churchill's name with bitterness. Now many of you will remember this. Long memories, indeed!
