    God. Damn. It.

We're being attacked by this centrist ratfucker....well, he doesn't know what he's got himself into, we'll survive this bullshit! Best of luck to our comrades who are under attack.

Looks like it was a very cold day out there in front of the FBI building.

Still, a fairly small gathering, isn't it? Considering the serious and local quality of these attacks?

The Minneapolis Three, Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, the aggressive frisking at the airports. What is happening to this country? Well, it isn't Christian fascism, it's fascism with a liberal face, i.e. Obama's face. We haven't seen this kind of outright political repression since the Nixon years. We need a "Nonpartisan Defense Committee" to defend the targets of this rabid administration. I have a feeling that there will be a lot more targets hit.

    Radical Eyes,

Without knowing the particulars I don't think there is much value in speculating on the significance of the size of this one action. This is likely going to be a long fight and there will be large actions and small ones along the way. There is a national campaign to defend the anti-war and international solidarity activists facing the Grand Jury that has come together on very short notice and accomplished a great deal. In the first week following the raids in September there were demonstrations across the country and the original subpeonas to appear before the Grand Jury were quashed as it became clear that people would not cooperate. Since then a third of the Minnesota State Legislature signed a letter opposing the raids and the Grand Jury and resolutions have been passed, generally unanimously, by many labor unions and other progressive organizations.

What we do know is that the FBI has targetted three activists and will be calling them before the Grand Jury. In the days to come there will be more calls to get into the streets to protest, and not just in the Twin Cities, and it will be on all of us to build those actions.

I agree, TNL, obviously: it is incumbent on all of us to support and to build this solidarity campaign, however we can.

Actually it would be helpful if someone could post out here links to actions that people can take to support the targeted activists. (From petitions to sign, on up...)

The website to keep up with what's going on with the case and what you can do in solidarity is http://www.stopfbi.net

There are links at the bottom of the page there to the facebook group and twitter.

The next immediate call to action is here: http://www.stopfbi.net/2010/11/21/take-action-call-or-visit-us-representative-your-home-district-week

And there's also a pending call for emergency actions on the date that the first 3 activists - Anh Pham, Tracy Molm and Sarah Martin - are called back to the Grand Jury. That date is not known yet but will be widely disseminated as soon as it's known so people can plan protests around the country. The protest in Chicago, where the grand jury is meeting, will obviously be very important to make as large and powerful as possible.

The main petition for individuals to sing on is at http://www.stopfbi.net/petition. When you sign this one it auto-blasts your letter to a bunch of government officials and media outlets. There's also now a sign-on letter for academics: http://www.stopfbi.net/petition/dear-colleague/professors-and-academics

The resources page of the website has some flyers, buttons, stencils, web graphics and poster designs you can download and distribute: http://www.stopfbi.net/resources If you want to submit more designs for posters, web graphics, or whatever, that would be awesome. One of the designs there was already submitted by someone from Kasama, and more are encouraged!

If you're looking for a more detailed list of things you can do to help, there's a flyer detailing a number of specific ways you can help: http://stopfbi.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/20101012-howyoucanhelp.pdf

Donations are always needed, as the costs for doing legal defense work and then likely jail support work for 14 people will be high, as is the cost for doing the political education work to build the movement against FBI repression. Donate online here: http://www.stopfbi.net/donate

And if you are involved in any organizations, please get them to pass a solidarity resolution. There are already between 150-200 organizations that have done so, but many more need to be brought into the movement to build the force we'll need to stop this. Solidarity statements are here: http://www.stopfbi.net/solidarity-statements

Hope that's enough chew on for now :)

kasama has done a great job of posting news and analysis of the fbi raids. there is more info on http://www.stopfbi.net/ including the petition. at some pt i think it would be great if Kasama had some sort of protests/events/calendar that ran on the side of the page.

  • Thanks Saoirse. We will post all relevant material on this -- on the attacks, on analysis and on the necessary resistance. Please help us stay "on top of it" in a timely way. When there are events we will, of course, publicize them and participate.
